Dubai: The UAE has announced an extension of its visa amnesty program, now set to end on December 31, 2024. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) confirmed this extension, allowing violators additional time to rectify their residency status.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, explained that this decision aligns with the UAE’s celebrations of its 53rd Union Day and reflects the country’s commitment to humanitarian values. The extension responds to the requests of individuals seeking to either regularize their status through employment or exit the country without facing penalties.
The ICP’s decision was informed by recent studies and data indicating high foot traffic at service centers leading up to the original October 31 deadline.
Al Khaili emphasized that this extension represents a final opportunity for violators to resolve their status without fines or re-entry bans. The initiative aims to help individuals overcome challenges, secure their rights, and protect their families.
The amnesty has already seen significant participation, with many taking advantage of the benefits offered. Al Khaili also noted that the ICP, in collaboration with government and private entities, is committed to addressing obstacles faced by violators during this period.
As the extension draws to a close, he warned that fines will be reinstated for those who remain in violation of residency laws after the new deadline. The ICP plans to intensify inspection campaigns in partnership with other government agencies, taking legal action against individuals who do not comply by the end of the extension.
This is a critical moment for anyone affected—take action now to ensure your residency status is regularized!
