Donald Trump Declares ‘Magnificent Victory’ in Florida as He Addresses Supporters
In a speech delivered in Florida, Donald Trump declared victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, even as key states continue to count ballots. Speaking to a cheering crowd at West Palm Beach, Trump claimed a “magnificent victory” and thanked the American people for electing him as the 47th president of the United States.
Trump, appearing confident, told supporters: “Look what happened – is this crazy?” He went on to say, “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president.”
A Historic Victory
Trump’s victory speech marked the beginning of what he described as a new era for America. “This will truly be the golden age of America,” he said. He also claimed to have won the popular vote, a feat he did not achieve in the 2016 or 2020 elections.
“Winning the popular vote was very nice; it’s a great feeling of love,” Trump added, as the crowd erupted in applause.
Although Trump has declared victory, the final results are still pending, with several key states yet to finalize their counts. As of now, the Republican Party has secured control of the Senate, though the House remains uncertain.
Trump Leads in Key Battleground States
Trump has secured wins in crucial battleground states, including Georgia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, narrowing Vice President Kamala Harris’s path to victory. With Trump leading in additional states, his lead has made it increasingly difficult for Harris to mount a comeback.
“We overcame obstacles that no one thought possible,” Trump said, flanked by his family, including his wife, Melania, and children. “We’re going to help our country heal. Our country needs help, and it needs it badly.”
Trump also reaffirmed his commitment to tackling illegal immigration, saying, “Every single day, I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body.”
In a moment of reflection, Trump referenced a previous assassination attempt during a Pennsylvania rally in July. “Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason,” he said. “That reason was to save our country and restore America to greatness.”
Kamala Harris Delays Speech as Election Results Continue to Roll In
Vice President Kamala Harris, who was scheduled to speak at Howard University after the polls closed, will not address her supporters until later Wednesday. Her campaign chair, Cedric Richmond, informed the crowd at Howard that Harris would not speak that night but would return to address them on Thursday.
“Every vote is being counted,” Richmond said, urging supporters to stay hopeful and patient. “You will hear from the vice president tomorrow.”
Harris had hoped to make history by becoming the first woman, Black woman, and South Asian American to assume the presidency. However, as the election results continue to unfold, Trump’s momentum has shifted the balance of key states in his favor.
Shifting Votes and Swing States
With more than 80% of the vote counted in 21 remaining states, Trump has gained significant ground, especially in states like New Jersey and Florida, where the swing has been more than five points. In contrast, other battleground states have seen smaller shifts in Trump’s favor, with the swing in some states less than one point.
As election results continue to pour in, the final outcome remains uncertain, with both candidates vying for the critical votes that will determine the next U.S. president.
