Real Madrid extended their perfect start to the 2025/26 LaLiga season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Levante on Tuesday night. Vinicius Jr delivered his best performance of the campaign, while Kylian Mbappe’s second-half brace sealed the three points at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Vinicius Jr Inspires Madrid’s First-Half Surge

Under new manager Xabi Alonso, Vinicius Jr had faced criticism after inconsistent early displays. But against Levante, he silenced doubters with a captain-worthy performance. The Brazilian opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a stunning outside-foot strike that curled just inside the far post.

Minutes later, Vinicius turned creator, releasing teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono down the right flank. The 16-year-old showed composure beyond his years, smashing home a near-post finish to double Madrid’s lead. Only the heroics of Levante goalkeeper Mathew Ryan prevented further damage before half-time, denying Vinicius, Federico Valverde and Mbappe in quick succession.

Mbappe Double Kills Off Levante Comeback

Levante briefly found hope when Ivan Romero’s deflected effort in the 54th minute wrong-footed Thibaut Courtois, allowing Etta Eyong to head home and reduce the deficit to 2-1.

But Mbappe quickly extinguished any chance of an upset. The French superstar converted from the penalty spot with a cheeky Panenka in the 63rd minute after being fouled by Unai Elgezabal. Just three minutes later, he latched onto Arda Guler’s precise through-ball, rounded Ryan, and calmly tapped into an empty net for his brace.

Madrid Firmly on Top

The result leaves Real Madrid top of LaLiga with 18 points from six matches, five clear of rivals Barcelona, who play Real Oviedo on Thursday. Levante remain in 16th place with only four points.

Manager Xabi Alonso praised his side’s progress but urged caution:

“We are still building a solid foundation to compete in the Champions League, LaLiga, and Copa del Rey. Vinicius was decisive tonight, but we have more work to do.”

Real Madrid now prepare for a heated derby clash against Atletico Madrid this Saturday, while Levante face Getafe in another tough test.
